(SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Nov. 25, 2013) — Award-winning Phoenix-based designer Lynne Beyer has established the Lynne Beyer Design Excellence Scholarship at Scottsdale Community College with a $10,500 endowment.
Beyer, who is an alumna of SCC’s Interior Design program, presented the check to SCC
President Jan Gehler, Ed. D. It will go towards SCC’s fundraising goal as part of the Maricopa Community Colleges’ ‘Educating Our Community, Ensuring our Future’ campaign.
“We are so thankful for this generous gift from Lynne Beyer to support student success,” said Gehler. “There is a large gap between the average scholarship award ($771) and average tuition per year ($1,950) to attend SCC, so private support is critical as more and more students are in need of aid to attend college.”
The Lynne Beyer Design Excellence Scholarship will be awarded annually to provide financial support for the tuition needs of a full-time student in good standing in SCC’s Interior Design program. Beyer will be part of the committee that selects the recipient, based on their submitted portfolio of first-year interior design course work, professional promise and academic achievement.
“Being an alumna of SCC, it is an honor to be able to give back to the program that prepared me so well for my interior design career, which is now in its 28th year,” said Beyer.
This year, SCC’s Interior Design program is celebrating 35 years of academic excellence, offering programs leading to an Associate of Applied Science degree in interior design and a professional level Certificate of Completion that provides specialized knowledge within the interior design industry.
Beyer, an allied member of the American Society of Interior Designers since 1986, is known for her professionalism, breadth of experience, and ability to create residential and hospitality interiors that are timeless, beautiful, livable and functional. Her work has been featured in numerous design publications, including Phoenix Home & Garden, LUXE and Home and Design.
Most recently, Beyer collaborated with Architect R. Nicholas Loope, FAIA, and Executive Chef Beau MacMillan on a complete redesign of Jade Bar at the Sanctuary Resort in Paradise Valley, AZ.
