(SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Oct. 11, 2013) – A live webcast featuring former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright will be part of the 7th Annual China Town Hall: Local Connections, National Reflections Monday, Oct. 28 at Scottsdale Community College.
The local event, which is free and open to the public, is one of many going on around the country as part of a national day of programming on China. The afternoon event is presented by SCC’s Honors Program and the Arizona Council for International Visitors.
In addition to the live webcast featuring former Secretary of State Albright, a keynote talk by Retired U.S. Navy Captain Bradley Kaplan will cover China/Japan/North Korea military and political relations, and implications for the U.S.
“In the past, issues such as the environment and the economy were addressed,” said John Liffiton, SCC’s Honors adviser and one of the event’s key coordinators. “This time we’re venturing into China’s military, and more specifically its blue water navy in the Pacific Rim and how that affects the U.S. and its allies.”
Former Secretary Albright will make a presentation followed by a Q&A session. Last year, she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama for her contributions to international peace and democracy.
RSVPs should be directed to Sue Reiner at 480.945.7750 or firstname.lastname@example.org but reservations are not required.
