Student cast retells timeless hit with modern music and comic antics
(SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Oct. 17, 2012) – The Scottsdale Community College Music Department presents Godspell, a musical by Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak, on Nov. 14-17 at the SCC Performing Arts Center, 9000 E. Chaparral Road in Scottsdale.
The musical, which just finished its Broadway revival run in June, will be performed by 10-member student cast from SCC. The performances are free and open to the public (donations are welcomed and will benefit the SCC Music Department programs).

The SCC ensemble endeavors to tell these stories in lighthearted and imaginative ways. All cast members will be on stage virtually the entire production. The production is directed by Beth Livingston-Hakes and Polly Chapman.
Godspell opened off Broadway on May 17, 1971, and has played in various touring companies and revivals, including a 2011 revival which played on Broadway from October 13, 2011 to June 24, 2012. It started as a college project performed by students at Carnegie Mellon University and moved to La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club in Greenwich Village. It was then re-scored for an off-Broadway production, which became a long-running success.
