Progress report for 4/9/14

Highlights from DLR Group’s Field Observation Report 33:

  • Work on the roof includes installation of the mechanical equipment curb over the north mechanical room – installation of the backer rod and sealant to the building expansion joint in the fascia panel on the north side of the clerestory – application of the mesh tape and coating to the seams of the metal roof panels and along the sill of the clerestory windows
  • Work on the metal framing for the gypsum walls and soffits over the circulation area is in progress
  • Gypsum board has been hung on the study room walls
  • Tape and coat of the gypsum board is ongoing throughout the project
  • The acoustic sound panels for the ceiling have been delivered and stacked in the center of the room
  • The electrical sub is installing the cable trays
  • The Work to relocate the chilled water lines along the north end is in progress
  • The new air handler number 2 has been installed in the north mechanical room and the hydronic lines are being extended to the new connection points
  • Work to install the steel knife plates to the acoustic walls is in progress
  • The concrete floor has been cut and removed at the interior glazing channel locations

Progress report for 4/2/14

Highlights from DLR Group’s Field Observation Report 32:

  • Concrete form in place at south side
  • The sidewalk to the fire riser room and technical services area has been poured
  • Work to post set missing rebar for the cast-in-place bench at east entrance in progress
  • Work on the metal framing for the gypsum ceilings over the classrooms is in progress
  • Work to provide stress isolation at the building expansion joint is in progress
  • The electrical sub had roughed in for the lighting in the acoustic walls
  • The installation of the gypsum and ceramic tile backer board has been done in the student restrooms
  • Pre-paint prep work to the existing interior concrete columns and waffle slab is continuing
  • The openings have been cut in the roof for the new mechanical equipment
  • The Work to relocate the chilled water lines along the north end is in progress
  • The mechanical sub is applying the insulation to the plenum duct in the high ceiling area – installation of the mechanical TU’s and related duct is continuing
  • The removal of the existing chilled water lines along the east side has been done
  •  The concrete floor has been cut at the glazing channel locations

Progress report for 3/31/14

Highlights from DLR Group’s Field Observation Reports 30 and 31:

  • Work on the metal framing includes the acoustical wall assemblies on the East and West ends of the classrooms – the framing along the corridor by the study rooms along the north side
  • The walls for the offices and study areas are in place
  • Work to relocate the chilled water lines along the north end is in progress
  • The electrical sub is installing the recessed light fixtures in the framed ceilings
  • The remainder of the plywood backer panels have been installed to the main ceiling
  • Work to expand the Data room has begun – the demolition of the existing walls has been done and the and new wall has been installed
  • Excavation and grading for the hardscape/sidewalks along the south side is in progress
  • Work on the metal framing for the acoustical wall assemblies on the East and West ends of the classrooms has been completed and work to install the gypsum board has begun – work on the perimeter soffit framing is continuing along the north wall – the installation of the gypsum has begun in the student restrooms
  • Pre-paint prep work to the existing interior concrete columns is in progress
  • Work to relocate the chilled water lines along the north end is in progress
  • The electrical sub is installing the recessed light fixtures in the framed ceilings

Progress report for 3/18/14

Highlights from DLR Group’s Field Observation Report 29:

  • Metal framing is being installed for the acoustical wall assembly on the East and West ends of the classrooms. Some of the niches were framed in as well.
  • Exterior metal framing for the exit door vestibule on the North side of the library was installed.
  • The fire treated plywood was being installed on the unistrut grid.
  • Soffit framing at the North and South classrooms above the Nana Wall openings were being installed.
  • Concrete was poured at the East entry trench where the 3M security gate conduits were installed.
  • Fire treated wood blocking has been installed at the East entry LCD monitor boxes.

Progress report for 3/12/14

Highlights from DLR Group’s Field Observation Report 28:

  • Structural steel track for the exterior framing at the East entry has been installed.
  • The final concrete pour on the East side of the library was complete.
  • Structural steel track on the North and South elevations for adjacent to the mechanical rooms have been installed.
  • The contractor was in the process of drilling holes into the edge of the existing sidewalk along the North elevation for the installation of epoxied rebar to pour back the sidewalk that was removed for the installation of the new domestic water line into the building.
  • Steel angle for the acoustical wall assembly on the East and West of the classrooms had been installed

Progress report for 3/5/14

Highlights from DLR Group’s Field Observation Reports 26 and 27:

  • The steel columns, beams and steel trellis for the entry canopy have been installed. T.S. joists are on site and are in the process of being welded in place. Metal deck is on site.
  • The pull vault has been installed on the East side of the library.
  • Two additional 4” conduits from the pull vault up thru the chase and above the ceiling in the storage room have been installed. Contractor indicated that the area would soon be ready for the final concrete pour.
  • Conduits for the 3M security gate had been installed at the front entry.
  • The T.S. joists and metal decking were installed on the entry canopy
  • Conduit and j-boxes are installed in the copy center for the future vending machines.
  • The outside of the East and West walls of the classrooms have been rocked and joints and fasteners have been floated.

Progress report for 2/10/14

Highlights from DLR Group’s Field Observation Report 24:

  • Flat-panel wall boxes have been installed in the main entry. The backing for the future wall mounted LCD TV’s will need to be solid wood fire treated blocking or an alternate blocking product that provides significantly more load capacity than standard sheet metal backing. This is also the case at the classroom LCD tv’s.
  • Hess Rountree surveyed the front entry canopy and located the caisons.

Highlights from DLR Group’s Field Observation Report 23:

  • Terrazzo sample was submitted by Stone Finish.
  • There are various types of insulation being installed within the library interior partitions.
  • Threaded rods located along the West edge of the unistrut ceiling appear to be located directly on the edge of the ceiling assembly.
