SCC EQS Program Director and students attended a Buck Brannaman clinic in March 2014.
“Buck” Brannaman is a horse trainer and a leading clinician, whose philosophy of working with horses is based on the idea of working with the horse’s nature, using an understanding of how horses think and communicate, to train the horse to accept humans and work confidently and responsively with them. One of Brannaman’s stated goals is to make the animal feel safe and secure around humans so that the horse and rider can achieve a true union.
In the EQS 140, Equine Behavior class, the movie Buck is viewed, discussed and each student prepares a thought provoking paper concerning the movie. Meeting Buck was a highlight to everyone. The group had a chance to meet with Buck and take a group picture.
Buck was very accommodating and genuinely kind to all.
