Who We Are
Dr. James Vicich, Executive Director of CIMAA
Dr. Vicich has been teaching for thirty-five years at the high school, undergraduate and graduate levels. As a published researcher and master teacher, Jim is able to serve as a bridge between the communities of researchers and practitioners. Dr. Vicich has served on the Arizona Review Panel for the Common Core State Standards and has participated in several local, regional, and national professional development research grants. He is currently a professor of mathematics at Scottsdale Community College.
Dr. April Strom
Dr. April Strom received her Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction (Mathematics Education) from Arizona State University. She received her master’s degree in mathematics education and bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Texas Tech University. Dr. Strom has taught mathematics at the community college level since 1998. She has participated in grant projects focused on professional development for K-12 mathematics teachers. Her research interests include investigating secondary mathematics teachers’ understanding of exponential functions and precalculus students’ conceptual development of the concept of function.
